Frequently asked questions

Everything people ask us before they start

Short, direct answers. If yours isn’t here, write to us and we’ll add it.

What is StoreGentic?

StoreGentic adds two things to your online store: a search that understands what the customer is asking for, even when they type it in their own words and in another language, and a chat assistant that answers questions about your catalogue. Customers can also search from a photo.

It sits on top of the store you already run. It does not change your platform, and it leaves your cart, payments and orders untouched.

What does StoreGentic actually do for my store?

It gets customers to the right product in less time, so they buy instead of leaving the site.

The people who use your search bar are the visitors closest to buying. Improving what they see is the fastest way to sell more, without spending another euro on advertising.

How does StoreGentic AI search work?

StoreGentic reads your catalogue — names, descriptions, attributes and images — and builds a map of what it all means. When a customer searches, the platform compares the query against that map, merges the results with classic keyword search and reorders them to put the most relevant first.

In practice, someone searching for “water bottle to print our logo on” finds the insulated bottles in your catalogue, even though those exact words appear nowhere in it.

Can customers search using a photo?

Yes. The customer uploads an image — a photo they have taken, a screenshot, a picture one of their own customers sent them — and StoreGentic shows the products in your catalogue that look most like it, and it tells colour variants apart too.

It is the feature that makes the biggest difference in sectors where people buy with their eyes: corporate gifting, fashion, furniture, spare parts.

Which e-commerce platforms does StoreGentic work with?

Any online store. There are two ways to connect it.

The first is the native plugin. Today it exists for WordPress: you install it, and it does two things — it reads the catalogue and sends it, and it turns on search and chat in the store. You export nothing by hand. The ones for PrestaShop, Shopify and Magento 2 are in the works; they will appear on the downloads page as soon as they ship.

The second is the HTML chat widget. It is one line of code you paste into your pages. It works on any platform, including a hand-built site, and it does not depend on the e-commerce system underneath.

With the widget you upload the catalogue yourself, from the panel or from an external service.

How many languages does it handle? And if I sell in a niche market?

Your catalogue can be online in several languages at the same time. Someone searching in German finds the same products as someone searching in Italian, and you do not have to write synonym lists by hand, market by market.

Today we have five of them running in production on a single store: Italian, English, German, Spanish and French.

If your market speaks something else — Polish, Albanian, Chinese — ask us before you sign. We will try it on your catalogue and tell you how it goes: with less widely spoken languages we would rather show you than make promises.

Where is my data held? Is StoreGentic GDPR-compliant?

In Europe, on infrastructure CodyCloud owns. StoreGentic is a cloud service: it is not installed on your servers, but your data does not pass through third-party infrastructure or external artificial intelligence providers either.

Your catalogue and your customers' searches are never used to train shared models and never mixed with data from other stores. Each store is isolated, with its own access keys.

How much does StoreGentic cost?

The price depends on three things: how many products your catalogue holds, how many searches a month it receives and how many stores you want to connect. That is the logic behind our plans, from a single store to a group with several retail brands.

Every plan carries the same features, free tier included: what changes is the volume. You start on the Free plan, at € 0. Paid plans run from € 79 a month to € 690, plus a one-off activation fee; above them sits Platform, from € 1,290. The full price list, with the limits of each tier, is on the pricing page.

How long does it take to go live?

Going from a connected catalogue to a first working search takes a few hours, not weeks.

With the native plugin the catalogue moves on its own: you install it and the plugin sends it. Without a plugin you upload a file in JSON, TSV or Google Merchant Feed format — the feed you already export for Google Shopping works too.

Adding the widget to your site is a short job for whoever looks after the design of your store.

Do I have to rebuild my site or move to another e-commerce platform?

No. StoreGentic works alongside the store you already have and does not touch your catalogue, cart, checkout, payments or orders. It replaces the search experience only, and keeps the look of your site.

My catalogue changes often. Does it stay up to date?

Yes. You can set updates to run automatically every hour, every day or every week, or send changes in real time when prices or stock change and new products arrive. There is nothing to redo by hand.

Is StoreGentic an alternative to Algolia, Klevu or Constructor?

Yes, it sits in the same category: search and product discovery engines for e-commerce. The differences we compete on are native image search, a chat assistant that works on your catalogue, running several stores from one place, and processing that stays on infrastructure we own in Europe, with no external artificial intelligence provider in between.

What happens if I go over the searches included in my plan?

The service does not stop. We tell you when you are getting close to the threshold and work out together whether the next plan up makes sense: we would rather agree on the move than surprise you with a charge at the end of the month.

How do you count the products in my catalogue?

We count the distinct product codes you load, variants included if you manage them as separate codes. If your catalogue holds many variants of the same model, tell us how it is put together: we will go through it with you before we recommend a plan.

Who is behind StoreGentic?

StoreGentic is built and run by CodyCloud Srls, an Italian company based in the province of Pistoia that works in managed infrastructure, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence solutions for business. It is the same company that runs the systems the service itself runs on.

Can the chat assistant invent products I do not sell?

No. The assistant works on your catalogue and nothing else: it only suggests items that really exist, with their codes, prices and variants. It does not draw on general information picked up from the internet.
